Hi, I’m Carly, and welcome to my blog! I’m a 32 year old newbie runner, triathlete, and I love weightlifting. I have struggled with my weight for years but am finally comfortable in my own skin (well, most of the time). I’ve been married to my husband for 6 years, and I’m lucky enough that he puts up with my ever changing athletic interests (and lets me have 2 dogs and 2 cats, too). I was diagnosed in 2012 with Rheumatoid Arthritis, which is an autoimmune disease that is extremely painful and can also be debilitating. I’m still learning how to be active while dealing with the effects of this disease, but I have big plans for the future and refuse to let my diagnosis get me down.
Here on Rock The Dogs I talk about running, my new found addiction to triathlons, and whatever else piques my interest on any given day (which is often my dogs). I love to encourage others to find their fitness passion, and hope that by sharing my story I can inspire others to become active because, really, if I can do it, anyone can!
Professionally I’m a veterinary technician, so needless to say helping animals is certainly a passion of mine. I also work with a dog rescue and have fostered a few dogs over the last few years.
